Hospital Contract Negotiations
MDMANAGEMENT's consultants can provide assistance and advice regarding your hospital contract negotiations based on our extensive healthcare experience. In addition, we can refer you to qualified legal counsel for a legal review of your contracts. Areas that will be discussed include, but are not limited to, issues relating to reimbursement, credentialing, quality and utilization review obligations, term and termination provisions, referral obligations, access to medical records, and indemnification & insurance requirements.
Unit Fee Analysis
MDMANAGEMENT account managers closely monitor and analyze each client's account to determine if third-party reimbursements received are consistent with expected amounts and applicable reimbursement laws and regulations for anesthesia services. The account manager and a professional coder perform periodic audits to determine if all the procedures performed by the anesthesiologist are accounted for as indicated on the billing slip. Accurate billing reports are necessary for proper collection of third-party reimbursement fees. Proper information facilitates timely collections and may reduce operating costs for clients. Reimbursement fees are reviewed and updated on a regular basis. Clients receive an analysis of their fees in relation to the marketplace.
Practice Assessment
MDMANAGEMENT's professional consultants can perform an on-site management evaluation of your current practice and provide you with a detailed analysis, including solutions for operating your practice more efficiently and effectively. Our practice analysis services may include investigation of anesthesia records, billing and collection reports, practice mix, accounts receivable reports, payment posting records, procedure entry, insurance verification, claims, follow-up, patient statements, telecommunications, quality assurance, capitation and managed care contracts, and software capabilities.
Strategic Planning
The economic and political pressures on anesthesiologists...decreasing reimbursement, increasing overhead, complex hospital and managed care contract negotiations, hospital mergers and acquisitions, and pressure to absorb CRNA expenses, has caused a surge of practice expansions including mergers, consolidations, acquisitions and joint ventures. While expansion is a typical response to these external forces, there are many business and legal implications related to practice expansions which must be effectively addressed to ensure a successful expansion. As with any business decision, practice expansions must be carefully planned in order to achieve the desired result. MDMANAGEMENT provides the necessary tools to assist you in preparing for an expansion or development into other anesthesia specialties such as multidisciplinary pain clinics or outpatient facilities with our market research and income projection services.
